SASANIAN KINGS, Bahram (Varhran) II and family. 276-293 AD. AR Drachm (4.11 gm; 28 mm). Classic style, Jugate busts of Bahram, wearing winged crown with korymbos, and his queen, wearing kolah with boar’s head, right, vis-a-vis bust of Prince 4, wearing kolah with eagle’s head, reverse, fire altar with attendants, with symbol “Faravahar” on the left of flame. SNS type VI/1 var.; Gobl type VII/2a; Saeedi 166 corr. (rev. type); Sunrise 786var. Sharply struck on a nice broad flan. Some chipping around the edge, between 4-8 o'clock. Choice Superb EF. Lightly toned.
