Description
ARAB-SASANIAN, Hajjaj ibn Yusuf, AH 75-95 (694-713 AD.) Æ (1.30 gm; 17 mm). Obverse, Sasanian style bust turning right, name Hajjaj ibn Yusuf in Arabic and in two lines inf front of the face, GDH and Apzut behind the crown, reverse, figure turning right with raised hand and larger than life open hand rendition, two lines in Pahlavi behind the head “pylwc baavat” and then the name “Hajjaj” in front of the face. The phrase will be “Piruz bovad Hajjaj” (May Hajjaj be victorious), Gyselen Type 79. Original red green patina. Choice VF / Good VF. Extremely rare.
