Description
KUSHAN KINGS of INDIA, Kanishka I. 127-151 AD. Æ Tetradrachm (16.86 gm; 25 mm). Attic standard, Kapisha, main mint (probably Begram), middle phase with Bactrian inscriptions. ÞAO ΚA-NΗΡKI, Kanishka I standing facing, head left, wearing long beard, diadem with ribbons, round brimmed cap, flame emanating from right shoulder, dropping pellets with right hand over lit altar at left, grounded spear in left; long sword with curved hilt held by belt, dotted border / MIOPO, standing facing, head surrounded by radiate halo, diadem with ribbons to right, cloak around shoulders double-clasped at chest, worn over belted tunic and boots, right arm extended with bent elbow and hand raised in benediction, left hand on sword hilt at hip; tamgha in left field, dotted border.
