THRACE, Byzantium. Trajan. 98-117 AD. Æ (12.23 gm; 26 mm). AYTO NEΡ TΡAIANOC KAI CEB ΓERM ΔAKI, laureate head right, slight drapery on left shoulder / Rev. BYZANTIΩN EPI TΡAIANOY KAY TO Γ, crested Corinthian helmet to right, with seated lion at top of bowl and serpent on cheek guard. RPC III 1068; BMC 62; Varbanov 1634; Schoenert-Geiss 1322-1328. Well struck on a nice flan. Some smoothing on the field. Dark green patina. Choice Good VF. Extremely Rare.
