BYZANTINE EMPIRE, Leo VI "the Wise". 886 to 912 AD. Æ Follis (6.94 gm; 25 mm). Obverse: Features a facing bust of Leo VI wearing a crown and chlamys, holding an akakia in his left hand, cross in right / Reverse: four-line inscription reading "+LEON / En ΘEO / bA / SILEVS R / OMEON," which translates to "Leo, by the grace of God, King of the Romans". Cf. SB 1729; DOC 8. Overstruck on an earlier issue. Well struck on nice flan. Green patina. Choice Good VF.
