The arms of the City of Lyon on one side, supported by allegorical figures of the Rhône and Saône rivers / Reverse displays the personal arms of François Clapasson de Vallière, who served as Mayor of Nantes. Tokens like this were used as a form of official currency or a symbol of office for municipal officials in 18th-century France. Choice AU. Lightly toned. Lustrous.
