Description
SASANIAN KINGS, Kavad I. 488-497 AD. PB (Lead) unit (7.19 gm; 28 mm). Special issue, obverse, Kavad's bust turning right, reverse, figure of Shahrivar who is protector of all life-lines of commerce and prosperity, Pahlavi text around the outer circle. There has been many discussion about this special issue, some believe the reverse is the image of Kavad's successor Khosrau I and the occasion might have been the destruction of Mazdakite communistic movement. Well struck on a nice flan. Choice EF. Original find patina. Vary rare.
