SASANIAN KINGS, Shapur I. AD. 240-272. Silver Obol (0.74 gm; 15 mm). Mint I (“Ctesiphon”), phase 1b, ca. AD 244- 252/3. Bust of Shapur I right, wearing diadem and mural crown with korymbos / Fire altar, flanked by two attendants wearing mural crowns, symbol on altar shaft. SNS type IIc/1a, style A, group d, pl. 22, 20-25; Göbl type I/1; cf Paruck 73; Saeedi 85; Sunrise 735. Sharply struck on a nice broad flan. Choice FDC. Lightly toned.
