SASANIAN KINGS, Yazdgird II. 438-457 AD. AR Drachm (4.16 gm; 31 mm). mint: GO or GW (Gorgan or Qum), no date. Struck circa AD 439-447. Bust right, wearing mural crown with korymbos set on crescent and inner ribbon / Fire altar (flames 4) with ribbons; flanked by two attendants, each holding a staff. SNS type Ia1/2a (pl. 71, 14); Göbl type I/1; Mochiri 1379; Paruck -; Saeedi 242; Sunrise 931. Large portrait issue. Sharply struck on a nice broad medallic flan. Great style. Choice FDC. Lightly toned with some luster. Exceptional strike and quality for this type.
