SASANIAN KINGS, Kavad I, special issue. 488-497 AD. Lead unit (7.69 gm; 30 mm). Special issue dedicated to Shahrewar (Best rule), obverse, Kavad figure turning right, crescent and star on 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, reverse; figure turning right with raised hand. It is possible this series of Kavad coinage were in celebration of Madakites obliteration and destruction by his son Khosrau I. No date. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Choice VF. Original find patina, natural earthen deposits. Very rare.
