Description
SASANIAN KINGS. Yazdgird I, 399-420 AD. Æ (2.37 gm; 14 mm). Obverse, letters in Pahlavi "Sh(a)MS" for shams (in arabic meaning sun) in front of face, reverse, fire altar with attendants and 9 iris flowers around the fire altar. "Yazdgird had close relationship with the Arab tribes bordering his empire in the southwest. He sent his son Bahram V to one of the Arab Chieftains loyal to the Sasanian court". Choice VF. Original find patina.
