Description
TABERISTAN. Khurshid (Khorshid); (115-142 AH). AR Hemidrachm (2.05 gm; 24 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter. Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURASTN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: year 100. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik, and Abbasid’s Saffah and Mansur, Album 52. Choice EF. Lightly toned.
