Description
ARAB-SASANIAN- Æ pashiz (1.74 gm; 19 mm). Facing forward bust, with both hands raised up, index fingers pointing upward, phrase "Izzat Lillah" (glory and greatness to Allah) on the left, phrase "Owst(a)nd(a)l (Ostaandaar-meaning governor), reverse, phrase in 4 line letters P or M...... followed by Mohammad Rasull Allah. the top line might be "PH" for Fasa under the Governorship of Darabgird. Of highest rarity among Arab Sasanian pieces, more than likely unpublished. Not in Gyselen. The closest type with totally different reverse is Type 21 in Gyselen and she attributes those to Istaxr. Brown patina. Choice Good VF. Extremely Rare.
