ARAB-SASANIAN, Istakhr, Æ Fals (1.30 gm; 20 mm). Obverse, Sasanian style bust turning right, name "Al-Walid" behind the head, phrase (a)Harith (typically meaning "Great Lion") in front of face, possible reference to great Moslem commander "Khalid ibn Walid", who won most of the battles he lead against both Persian and Byzantine Empires. Reverse, Islamic Shahadah. Gyselen Type 64, Istakhr is the mint place per Gyselen. Nice brown reddish patina. Choice VF. Of highest rarity among the Arab Sasanian coinage.
