TABERISTAN. Umar ibn A’ala, (771-782 AD). AR hemidrachm (1.95 gm; 23 mm). Obverse: Sasanian bust to the right, name Omar in Arabic in front of the face, Pahlavi phrase “NYWK” (per Pakzadian) on the 3rd quarter and Pahlavi phrase APD on the second quarter. Reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 128. Choice FDC. Lustrous.
