Description
TABARISTAN, Daadborzmehr, (722-731 AD), AR hemidrachm (2.04 gm; 23 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter. Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURSTAN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date 86 with a dot on the 6 oclock star typical of the reign. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik (724-743 AD). Choice EF / AU. Toned.
