Description
PARTHIA - 'Athenian Series'. Circa 246-238 BC. AR Didrachm (7.99 gm; 18 mm). Hekatompylos(?), Attic standard. Head of Athena to right, wearing earring, necklace, and crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor and a spiral palmette on the bowl; monogram of Andragoras(?) behind / Owl standing to right, head facing; behind, prow and grape bunch on vine with leaf, AΘE before. Roma XIV, 331; Bopearachchi, Sophytes Series 1A; SNG ANS 6; N&A 43-45; HGC 12, 3. From the 1960s Andragoras-Sophytes Group. Lovely strike on a nice full flan. Choice FDC. Toned. Great example for the issue.
