ROMAN EMPIRE; Constantius II. AD 337-361. Gold Solidus (4.40 gm; 21 mm). Constantinopole mint. FL IVL CONSTAN-TIVS PERP AVGV, diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantius II facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and shield decorated with horseman spearing fallen enemy motif. Reverse: GLORIA REI-PVBLICAE, Roma, holding scepter, and Constantinopolis, resting foot on prow, seated facing, holding between them wreath inscribed VOT/XXX/MVLT/XXXX in four lines; CONS in exergue.
