BYZANTINE EMPIRE. Nicepherous. III. 1078-1081 AD. EL Histemenon Nomisma (4.29 gm; 29 mm). Constantinople. IC-XC (barred), Christ seated facing on throne with upright arms, wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium and colobium, raising right hand in benediction, book of Gospels cradled on left arm; double border / Nicephorus III, bearded, standing facing on footstool, wearing crown with pendilia, saccos and loros with four pellets on fold, labarum with plain shaft in right hand, globus cruciger in left; double border. Sear 1882; DO 3.2, 2. NGC-Choice AU (Strike 43/5; Surface 4/5). Certificate # 6369683-037. Lustrous. Nice example for the issue.
