Description
AYYUBID, Mayyafariqin & Jabal Sinjar. AH 596-607(AD 1200-1210). Æ Dirhem (10.42 gm; 27 mm). Al-Awhad Najm al-Din Ayyub, Mayyafariqin, AH 591 = AD 1194/5. Draped facing bust, wearing headdress and mantle, held together by clasp, from which pendant hangs down; in field to left and right, as well as in outer margin, legend in Kufic. Rev. Legend in Kufic in five lines; around, legend in Kufic. Balog, Ayyubids 340. Nice brown patina and some original green deposits. Choice Superb EF. Very rare. Exceptional grade for the issue.
