Description
SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur I, Eastern style, 240-272 AD. Æ (2.59 gm; 21mm x 16mm). More than likely minted in Marv or Herat, obverse, Shapur's bust turning right with earflap behind the ear (typical for these issues), overstrike on an earlier coin (Possible Ardashir I), reverse, fire altar with attendants. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Choice VF. Nice original find patina. All overstrike issues in Sasanian Æ series are extremely rare.
