Description
TABERISTAN. Daadborzmehr; (722-731 AD), AR Hemidrachm (2.01 gm; 24 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter. Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURSTAN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: 86 with a dot on the 6 o'clock star typical of the reign. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik (724-743 AD). Choice FDC. Fully lustrous. Lightly toned.
