Description
TABERISTAN, Daadborzmehr; (722-731 AD). AR Hemidrachm (2.05 gm; 22 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter. Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURSTAN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: 86 with a dot on the 6 oclock star which is typical of the reign. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik (724-743 AD). Album 51. Choice FDC. Lightly toned. Lustrous.
