Description
TABERISTAN, Khurshid (Khorshid); (123-143 AH & 740-760 AD & PYE 89-109). AR Hemidrachm (2.05 gm; 24 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter, large dot under the right wing of the crown, Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURSTAN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: 100. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik, and Abbasid’s Saffah and Mansur, Album 52-53. Choice FDC. Lightly toned. Fully lustrous.
