Yazdgird I, had a great relationship with Arab chieftains and Lakhmid kings that resided in southern Mesopotamia, and southern shore of Persian gulf including modern day Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Sasanians maintained a supportive and friendly relationship with Lakhmid Arabs until the time of Khosrau II when the Perso-Byzantine war began to expand and Persians removed Lakhmids thus removing the buffer zone they had for several centuries with Arabia.
