Description
ABBASID, al-Rashid, (AD 786-809/AH 170-191). Local issue, Lead Unit (3.28 gm; 14 mm). obverse, phrase in Kufic/Arabic "Amir al-Omara, al-Walid ibn Abdullah" (The supreme commander Walid ibn Abdullah), reverse phrase "Bismillah" followed by "Zarb Jorjan" (minted in Jurjan (Gorgan)), followed by date 190. Extremely rare and well preserved for local issues where mostly during the successive dynasties and battles many were collected and melted down to make way for new series. Choice VF with original patina.
