Description
TABERISTAN, Khorshid; (115-142 AH). AR Hemidrachm (1.90 gm; 24 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter, Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURASTN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: 102. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik, and Abbasid’s Saffah and Mansur. Album 52. Excellent strike and portrait. Choice FDC. Lightly toned. Lustrous.
