BYZANTINE EMPIRE; Andronicus II and Michael IX, Circa 1294-1320 AD. AV/EL Hyperpyron (3.94 gm; 24 mm). Constantinopolis, Half-length figure of the Theotokos orans, within city walls with four towers, I to left and right / Christ standing facing, crowning Andronicus II and Michael IX kneeling to either side. DOC 235-238; Sear 2396. NGC. Certificate # 5873671-027. Lovely strike. Choice AU with some luster.
