SASANIAN KINGS, Shapur I, 240-270 AD. Gold Dinar (7.41 gm; 23 mm). Ctesiphon or Hamadan mint. Obverse standard portrait turning right with standard merlon crown with earflap over the ear. Reverse; Fire altar with attendants wearing mural crowns. SNS type IIc/1b, style P, group b (pl. 30, 126); Gobl type I/1; Paruck 64; Saeedi AV4; Sunrise 739. Lovely style. Sharply struck on a nice broad flan. Choice FDC. Fully lustrous. Wonderful example for this issue.
