SAMANIDS, Nuh ibn Nasr (Nuh I), 331-343 AH. AR Dirhem (4.23 gm; 31 mm). under the name of Abbasid Khalif al-Mustakfi billah (ruled 333-334 AH), mint: Samarqand, year337. For nearly a decade Samanids continue to recognize "Al-Mustakfi" the legitimate Abbasid Khalif after the rival Buyids had removed Mustakfi and installed his son al-Muti' to power. This era marks the high point of rivalry between Samanids, Buyids and Hamdanids. Hairline crack. Well struck on abroad flan. Choice EF. Lightly toned. Rare.
