SASANIAN KINGS. Shahpur II. AD. 309-379. Silver Drachm (4.01 gm; 28 mm). Mint I (“Ctesiphon”). Phase 1a, circa AD. 240-244. Bust right, wearing diadem and tiara adorned with > and terminating in head of eagle / Fire altar; flanked by two attendants wearing diadems (type 1a) and mural crowns; pellet to left of altar shaft. SNS type Ib/1a, style A (pl. 20, A2); Göbl type IV/1; Paruck 97; Saeedi 77-8; Sunrise 828var. Small area of light porosity on obverse field. Nice style. Well struck on a broad flan. Choice EF. Toned.
