Description
TABERISTAN, Abbasid Governors. Said ibn Da’laj, (754-775 AD). AR Hemidrachm (1.92 gm; 24 mm). Obverse: Sasanian bust to the right, name Said (without ibn Da'laj) in Arabic in front of the face, Pahlavi phrase “NYWK” (per Pakzadian) on the 3rd quarter and Pahlavi phrase APD on the second quarter. Reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 126, The period coincides with reign of 2nd Abbasid Khalif; Al Mansur (754-775 AD). Choice FDC. Lustrous. Lightly toned.
