PERSIA, Safavid to Qajar era, Agate Seal (15mm x 15mm). with finest Nasta'liq calligraphy, phrase in admiration of highly venerated first Shia imam Ali, son in law of Prophet Mohamad and 4th Rashedoon khalif saying "first line : "The dearly beloved who is always living and never dies is Ali" followed by second line :" the one who is chivalrous in all places is Ali" from the end of Seljuq and Khawrasmshah dynasties to the rise of Safavids, many Shia sub-branches came to existance in Persia, Asia minor (present day Turkey) and Levant (eastern Mediterranean) as well as present day Iraq. One of the sects called "Musha'sha'aniyeh" attributed Imam Ali's quality as supernatural and godlike. The poem on the seal has clearly hinted to such admiration. Extremely rare.
