ROMAN EMPIRE: AV Gold Solidus, circa 443-450 A.D. Theodosius II, Constantinople mint. Obverse: DN THEODOSIVS PF AVG; pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuir, bust facing, holding spear over shoulder and shield on left arm. Reverse: VOT XXX HVL T XXXXI; Constantinopolis seated left, with foot on prow, holding cross on globe and sceptre, star in field below the cross, in exergue CONOB. (4.45gm, 21mm) Very Fine & Rare.
