Description
TIMURIDS, Sultan Mahmoud khan Timur (1447-1451). AR Dirhem (5.89 gm; 27 mm). Obverse, name of the king, Gurkan ibn Baysunghur ibn Shahrukh with mint place of Khuy(?) (Prominant city in present day's Iran's Azerbaijan) on the top, reverse, shahadah and shahadah for Prophet Mohamad, name of four Rashedoon Khalifs on 4 cardinal points. Mahmoud became a rebel king and took the western Persia and later on central Persia. He later on shared his power with his brother Babur khan who governed Khoraasan and Ulugh beg of Transoxiana to maintain the vast empire he had inhereted. Choice VF. Toned. Rare.
