ISLAMIC, Seljuks of Rum. 'Ala al-Din Kay Qubadh I (AD 1220-1237). AR Dirham (2.76 gm; 23 mm). Citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Mustanṣir billāh (AH 623-640 / AD 1226-1242); date formula in the margin. Rev. ‘al-sulṭān / al-aʿẓam / Kayqubād ibn Kaykhusraw’ (‘the Great Sultan Kayqubad ibn Kaykhusraw’ in Arabic); ‘ḍuriba hādhā al-dirham bi-Siwās’ (‘This dirham was struck at Sivas’ in Arabic) in the margin. Album 1211.3. From the collection of Dr. D. Löer, formed since the 1970s. Choice EF. Nice original find patina.
