Description
TABERISTAN, Said ibn Da'laj. Year 127. AR Hemidrachm (1.91 gm; 23 mm). Obverse: Sasanian bust to the right, name Said (without ibn Da'laj) in Kufic in front of the face, Pahlavi phrase "NYWK" (per Pakzadian) on the 3rd quarter and Pahlavi phrase APD on the second quarter. Reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 127 to the left. The period coincides with reign of 2nd Abbasid Khalif; Al Manusr (754-775 AD). Choice FDC. Lightly toned. Fully Lustrous.
