Description
ROMAN EMPIRE. Caracalla. 198-217 AD. AR Antoninianus (4.79 gm; 25 mm). Rome mint. Struck AD 217. Radiate and draped bust right, seen from behind / Sol standing facing, head left, raising hand and holding globe. RIC IV 293e var. (holding whip instead of globe); RSC 390c. Well struck on a nice broad medallic flan. Fully centered. Choice EF. Lightly toned. Very rare with Sol holding globe instead of whip in this final year of issue.
