Description
Late Sasanian or Arab-Sasanian, Circa 7th. century AD. Æ (1.10 gm; 15 mm). Obverse, Sasanian crowned figure turning right, letter MRWYN (Marv) in front of face, 4 dots in each cardinal location phrase APD on the third quarter, reverse, stand alone fire altar wih illegible phrases on both sides of altar, and 4 large dots on 4 cardinal locations. Crown rendered on this issue is the crown worn by Ardashir III as a child-king and Yazdgird III as also a young king. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Reddish patina. Choice EF. Extremely rare.
