Description
ARAB-SASANIAN, Khalif style. Gyselen Type 40. Extremely Rare. Æ (1.88 gm; 19 mm). Obverse, Khalif style figure standing with cross over his head, letters "pnw(a)am" in Pahlavi (my refuge) on the left, letters "ya(z)tn" (Yazdan-God) meaning "I take refuge in God", reverse, fleur-de-lis (flower of Iris also known as Flower of Persia) like ornate symbol, letters "sws" (Susa) on the left in Pahlavi, phrase lwbyk(?) in Pahlavi on the right (Arabic and Quranic phrase meaning "I am obedient to Allah" on the right. Gyselen Type 40 with minor differences in texts. Red patina. Choice VF. Of highest rarity among the Arab-Sasanian series.
