Description
IRANIAN CIVIC COPPER SERIES, Qajar dynasty. 50 Dinars (9.08 gm; 24 mm). Obverse, Persian Imperial symbol of Lion and Sun with Qajar crown on the top, reverse, minted in Dar al-Khalafahyeh Tehran. The coin carries the date of 1223 which coincides with reign of Fath Ali Shah, however this style coinage did not come about until late Mohamad Shah and mostly during Naser-aldin Shah, date most likely engraved incorrectly. Excellent strike. Dark brown and erathen patina. Choice EF. Great example for this issue.
