Description
Lydia, Philadelphia. 2nd-1st centuries B.C. Æ (20 mm, 9.75 g, 1 h). Hermippos, son of Hermogenes, archieros. Draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver at shoulder / [Φ]ΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΩΝ, Apollo seated left on high-backed throne upon which rests an owl, holding patera and resting elbow on lyre at his side; in left field in two lines and in exergue: magistrate's name and title: ΕΡΜΙΠΠΟΣ ΕΡΜΟΓΕΝΟΥΣ [ΑΡΧΙΕΡΟΣ]. SNG Copenhagen 337-8. Choice dark green patina. Nearly extremely fine.
