Judaea, Herodian Kingdom. Herod I. 40 B.C.E.-4 B.C.E. Æ lepton (12 mm, 0.78 g, 6 h). Jerusalem. [BACIΛ H]PωΔ, cornucopiae / Eagle with closed wings standing right. TJC 66; Hendin 1190; HGC 10, 669. Dark green and sandy patina. Nearly very fine.

This eagle on this coin is recognizable as an eagle, which is not true with many examples of this type. The eagle is presumed to have been the image Herod hung at the Jerusalem temple gate.
