Description
Indo-Parthians. Gondophares-Sases. Early-mid 1st century A.D. BI tetradrachm (23 mm, 9.82 g, 9 h). Taxila. Corrupt Greek legend, Abdagases seated right on horseback, arm extended; in lower right field, symbol above controls / Maharajasa Rajadirajasa Guduvharabhrataputrasa Avadagashasa (Karosthi), Zeus Nikephoros standing half-left, holding Nike and scepter; in left field, monogram; in right field Greek B over Karosthi 'Bu'. Cf. Senior 231 (Abdagases; unrecorded obv. controls). Unpublished variety. Well struck and centered for this scarce issue. Toned. Good very fine.
