Indo-Parthians. Gondophares. Mid-late 1st century B.C. BI tetradrachm (25 mm, 9.23 g, 2 h). Taxila. BAIIΛCωC BACIΛЄωN HCΓAΛO[Y] around, YNΔOΦЄP[OY], Gondophares seated left on horseback, arm extended; behind, Nike flying left, crowning him with wreath; in left field, symbol above tiny B; between horse's hind legs, Karosthi 'Sta' / Maharajasa Rajarajasa Tratarasa Devavratasa Gudapharasa (Karosthi), Siva standing facing, holding trident and palm; in left field, 6 above Nanipada; in right field, Karosthi 'Gu'. Senior 216.14T corr. Rare. Toned and well centered. Very fine.
Senior 216.13T describes an additional Karosthi letter, 'Bu', under the Karosthi letter 'Gu' in the right field of the reverse, and Senior 216.14T is described as being the same as 216.13T with the only difference the addition of a tiny B below the symbol. However, the illustration of 216.14 T appears to lack the letter 'Bu'.
