Description
Sasanian Kingdom. Peroz I. A.D. 457/9-484. AV 1/6 dinar (17 mm, 1.18 g, 9 h). Contemporary imitation of ca. AD 474-484 issues. Bust of Peroz I right, wearing crown with two wings, frontal crescent, and korymbos set on crescent, ribbon over each shoulder / Fire altar with ribbons; flanked by two attendants; star and crescent flanking flames; small O on right. SNS type IIIb/1g (pl. 98, A60 - same dies); Göbl type III/1; Paruck -; Saeedi -; Sunrise 953 (this coin). Extremely rare. A couple of minor dings on the reverse, otherwise well struck and lustrous. Choice extremely fine.
