Description

ANTIQUITIES, Lambayeque Whistle Vessel. A fine Lambayeque (Sican) double-chambered whistle vessel from Peru, ca. 700 - 1300 AD. This choice blackware example is 7-3/4" high and featured a lord standing atop a platform created by the broad strap handle. He is nicely adorned with a large headdress. Both chambers are decorated with a design band encircling the spouts, the bridge has simple linear incising and the entire vessel is covered with extensive mineral deposits. Intact, functional whistle. Ex Sarmiento collection.
