ANTIQUITIES, Nicoya Jaguar Deity Figure. An excellent Nicoya figure from Costa Rica, ca. 100 BC – 500 AD. This El Bosque Red Monochrome example is 4-1/4” high and depicts a jaguar deity seated on a four legged stool. He is depicted with lidded eyes and a wide grin displaying teeth in the open mouth. He is wearing a tiered crown and a necklace with large pendant. In excellent condition, with strong mineral deposits.
