A lot of 4 ancient ceramic lamps. Lot includes a Late Hellenistic type from Egypt, c. 1st Century BC, the long spout with arrowhead nozzle and strap handle at back, L: 5 5/8” (14.3 cm). Intact, traces of red slip; the second is another late Hellenistic type, c. 2nd - 1st Century BC, of low profile with arrowhead nozzle, L: 3 5/8” (9.2 cm). Intact, light deposits. Old collection numbers on base; the third is a Roman type, c. 2nd Century AD, with plain concave discus and shoulders decorated with pellets, L: 4 ¾” (12.1 cm). Intact, light deposits. Minor chip on shoulder and of solid construction; and the last is a Roman type, 1st Century AD, the deeply concave discus decorated with acanthus leaves, the spout long and adorned with volutes behind the arrowhead nozzle. L: 5 7/8” (14.9 cm). Some losses to handle and bottom. A beautiful type! Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value range $300-$400.
