Description
India, Gurjara-Pratihara empire of northern India. Ca. 8th century AR dramma (20 mm, 3.87 g). King's bearded bust right, wearing ornate crown; Brahmi legend Ma to right / Stylized fire altar with two attendants. Maheshwari, Imitations in Continuity, 1304-1311. Rare and choice.
This early coin type was issued by the Gurjura Pratiharas, imitating the Hunnic coinage of Vasudeva of Zabul. This is the earliest issue (Type 1) to carry a Brahmi legend.
